Heritage & period homes
Victorian and Edwardian terraces, ornate plasterwork, sash windows and cast-iron lacework. Lead-safe preparation, heritage-appropriate colour, and repairs that respect the original detail rather than burying it.
Camberwell · Melbourne
A small studio working on heritage terraces, architect-designed interiors and the commercial spaces in between. Fewer jobs at once, longer spent on preparation, and a finish that still looks deliberate a decade later.
The studio
Most painting quotes are won on price and lost on preparation. We work the other way around.
Signature Finish Group takes on a small number of jobs at a time so that the same tradespeople who quoted your home are the ones on site with a brush. Every project begins with a substrate assessment — moisture, movement, previous coatings, the lead paint that hides under seventy years of good intentions — because a finish is only as honest as what sits beneath it.
The result is quieter than a showroom and more durable than a fresh coat: crisp lines against ornate cornices, sashes that open without sticking, and render that still sheds a Melbourne winter in year eight.
What we do
01
Victorian and Edwardian terraces, ornate plasterwork, sash windows and cast-iron lacework. Lead-safe preparation, heritage-appropriate colour, and repairs that respect the original detail rather than burying it.
02
Architect-designed homes where the wall is the finish. Level 5 plaster preparation, spray-applied joinery, limewash and specialty coatings — set out and sequenced around the rest of the trades.
03
Render, weatherboard, brick and timber trim. Full make-good, flexible membrane systems and elastomeric coatings specified for the way a Melbourne facade actually moves between February and July.
04
Hospitality fitouts, consulting suites, foyers and apartment common property. Staged after-hours programmes, documented scopes for body corporate approval, and a single point of contact throughout.
How it runs
You get the same document at the start of every job: scope, products, sequence, access hours and the final figure. Nothing on it changes without your signature.
We walk the property with you, test the existing coatings, and note what needs repair before anything gets painted. Usually 45 minutes.
Sample pots on your walls in your light, not a chart under fluorescents. We then specify the exact system — primer, build coats, sheen level — in writing.
The stage that decides everything. Stripping, filling, sanding, sealing, rust treatment and lead-safe containment where a home predates 1970.
Minimum three coats, cut by hand at every junction. Daily clean-down, furniture protected and reinstated, and a site you would be happy to come home to.
A walkthrough with you against the original scope, touch-ups completed on the spot, leftover product labelled by room, and the warranty issued in writing.

Excellent service from start to finish. Signature Finish Group gave us a fair quote and Mustafa showed up exactly when he said he would. He worked efficiently to paint our ensuite bathroom, ensuring all fixtures were carefully covered.
I am extremely happy with the painting work. The team was professional, punctual, and paid great attention to detail. The quality of the finish exceeded my expectations, and they left everything clean and tidy after completing the job.
I recently had the pleasure of working with this team and I couldn’t be more impressed with the results. From the initial consultation to the final touches, their professionalism and attention to detail was outstanding.
